The key to this project was the integration of the living space into a coherent whole with defined zones, the maximisation of natural light, and the blurring of the boundary between inside and outside.
Whilst respecting the property's history and heritage the reconfiguration of the ground floor resulted in a contemporary and light filled space, with no change to the footprint of the house.
The elegant proportions of the property were enhanced by the seamless transition from one space to another with a light filled, warm and inviting living room representing the hub of the home. A limited palette of colours and materials was deployed in the service of continuity and coherence.
The study is an example of the timeless appeal of mid century modern design. The daybed was sourced as a second hand piece and revamped with new and complementary upholstery. The artwork was commissioned especially for the room, to provide a dramatic focal point that ties the design scheme together.
